Alf and Grant Williams

Alf and his son Grant Williams visit to look over the printery. They are visiting from Papakura with their vintage cars. Both cars are on display in the Feilding Square.
Alf spent most of his working life as a printer for Coulls Sommerville and Wilkie. He had a number of interesting tales to tell. including the fact that some people were selling vintage car weetbix cards and he had actually printed those many years ago in Christchurch!

David Young and Geoffrey Bertran visit Homeprint to look at the letterpress collection and catch up after retirement. David was owner/manager of 'Websters' wonderful art supply and framing shop in Wellington. Davids friend Geoffrey Bertran and he share a passionate interest in old cars and they both own and drove their 1929 Essex cars to a national car rally in Wanganui and shot over to Feilding for the day.

IngSong was very careful in assembling the A4 relief printing presses. The final step was quality control where the presses were inspected for blemishes and handpainted where required.

Poppies - Iconic Feilding bookshop

Piikea Clark buys a beautiful book on printmaking and a history of music recording in New Zealand from Tania. Poppies Bookshop has just won the 'North Island Bookseller of the year' prize through the efforts of Tania Gunn and mastermind Margaret Kouvelis.
Homeprint (John) has just handprinted letterpress onto 500 small and 500 large brown paperbags with the added line 'N.I. Bookseller of the Year 2010'.

Michael signs solarplate relief prints

The first colour set of relief printmaking. Waterbased ink is easy to use and easy to clean up at the end of the day.

The students drew their ideas onto polystyrene plate and used the Homeprint A4 relief printing press to print a set of 5 clear images. Using the same plate with some extra drawing the students overprinted with different colours and created beautiful art works on their theme of sports and games.
