The Tiger.
A few of the lino cuts that have been created by Allison and carved by John to illustrate our next artist book called "The baby and the tiger". A famous Korean story teller (Eun Ae Kim - Kaitlyn) gave this story to Allison when we attended the International Artist Book Exhibition in Seongnam City, Korea. Our grandson is 15 months old and loves books. Our plan is to create this book for him in English and at the same time translate the book into Korean and Chinese. In our research we have found that this story is a traditional Chinese story as well! Leo's mother Debra is Chinese, from Nanning.

The 9 duckings were very young, probably just hatched today. Mother duck wasn't too worried but just kept her distance while John was up on the bridge taking photographs for Leo's book.

This traditional method of making paper has been handed down from generation to generation by this wonderful family who now continue the craft and demonstrate to thousands of visiting craftspeople, artists and tourists. The two sons are now carrying on the bulk of the work while their father is available to assist and demonstrate.

Gloria mulch

Allison is gathering, Tim is loading Gloria, electric mulching machine. This is such a great way to clean up the dry sticks and foliage that are too small to use as firewood. The extra bonus is the mulch to spread under the trees in the orchard.

Gourds from Allison's organic garden

These gourds are self seeded from last season, the colour and markings are not as strong as you get with planting new seed from the garden shop. They will last as ornamental objects for about 6 months unless they are hollowed out to dry off properly.

Jo Melville visits the Homeprint Book Art Centre

'Spot' is the acrylic painting by David Brebner ($3500) with a litho called 'Spot' of a girl holding an outsize Monarch Caterpillar. These works a part of a group show by David, Cliff Whiting, Michael Smither, Paul Gummer and John and Allison Brebner.

Jo Melville visits

Jo Melville has just returned from Australia having trained as an Art Therapist. She is keen to use printmaking techniques and gather ideas and equipment from Homeprint to help her with teaching children and adult classes. Here, Allison is showing her a copy of 'Skim' and had just shown her an acrylic painting of a monarch butterfly painted by David Brebner.
