Devils Cup 1 kg beans

These freshly roasted beans have been produced by Kev Murrow from Patea. While Michaela returned 14 borrowed prints from an exhibition in Eltham, Kev showed me some of the techniques on my stove top to brew a great cup of coffee. I can smell it now!

Monty's Surprise

Our first crop of 4 huge apples from the 'Montys Surprise'. This fruit fell off the little tree in the wind and it weighed in at 565 gms or 1lb 4oz. According to the supplier this apple was discovered up the Whanganui River and is estimated to be 100 years old and has been tested to be 4 times more beneficial than the next best apple in regard to its anti cancer properties.(Quercetin glycosides)

A special book for the Mayors office in Palmerston North needed attention. Jan (Yinghua Jiang)made a beautiful job of rebinding the sections to the covers. While Jan had the chance at the homeprint Studio she made a 26 section journal using coptic stitch, and blocking the book cloth on the spine with some brass type she selected from the collection.

The A4 lever press is sold with 2 felt blankets and an instruction booklet. The order of operation is to open up the press, place the inked up lino carving in the middle of the bed. Lay a piece of paper on top of the carving. Lay the best number of blankets on top of the paper. Swing the platen over with the lever at about 30 to 35 degrees, and push down on the black cap of the lever. Swing the platen open, peel off the blankets, peel off the lino print!

The A4 lever press has been a most popular product for the 11th year now. I made a simple prototype that I used with Primary School children and discovered they liked using it to print their little carvings, ALOT! This was followed by 10 x A4 relief presses with a welded aluminium frame. This was also successful. There was a demand so I created my final design with a cast aluminium frame , plywood bed and platen and steel lever and heavy duty hinges. I have sold over 500 of this press through out New Zealand.

Andrew delivers the first batch of artist grade 'bull shit' paper to Homeprint. Only 2 suppliers of this specific paper in new Zealand. The texture is smooth on one side and lightly textured on the other. Around 100 gsm in weight, lightly sized, acid free, ready for printing on.
