Table Top Albion Press 1872

The Albion is put to good use when large groups of students or tourists are visiting to have some 'Hands On' printing. I teach how to set wood type in a galley, lock up with hemple quoins, ink up with a roller and waterbased ink ( I don't trust first timers not to get ink on themselves) then pull a few prints from the Albion flat bed or the Imperial Press flat bed.

Caffe Laffare.

Ummm the smell of freshly roasted coffee a few blocks walk from UR. I called in to buy my second kilo of freshly ground decaffeinated coffee, may not have the kick but has the taste and the aroma!

Lay the blanket over paper that is over the inked up carving that is placed in the middle of the carry board (platen).

The hydraulic press is best when you use short strokes when the pressure comes on. This will give you the easiest and quickest way to maximum power. (5000 kg)

Here is my print. Natalie spent time after allowing the prints to dry drawing onto the work with oil pastels. Each print had its own special 'LOOK' and some had a special 'MESSAGE'.

Zimmerman Contemporary Gallery. Palmerston North.

Bronwyn gave me a 20 minute guided tour of her new gallery showing me some of the artists she represents.
The gallery has a great feel to it, the lighting, the spaces, the hanging and the ambiance all help to show the work off to advantage.
